How to Build Your Ezine List

How to Increase Your E-zine Subscriber List

Opt In
Out of respect to your mailing list, and the CAN-SPAM laws, only mail your ezine to those who have requested it, or opted-in. Even if you have compiled a list of contacts, prospects, and clients that is 2000 strong, you can’t just start entering them on your list.

So how do you access your current list of ezine addresses?

Start With Your Friends
I’m using “friends” liberally here, to mean all contacts with whom you’re on a first name basis, and who recognize you apart from your business card.

1.Send out an email announcing the launch of your ezine.
Make it simple, 2 paragraphs.
Make it low-hype. These are your friends—they don’t need a sales pitch, but they do need to know why they should join. So…
Make it benefit-oriented. What’s in it for your reader? Does the ezine address specific problems of a target market? If it’s a general “good life” ezine, how is it unique? What makes it different from the thousands of other ezines like it?
Include a sample issue, or your launch issue.
Give crystal-clear directions on how to sign up for future copies, and make it clear that your reader will be missing out on this great information if they don’t go to the site and sign up.

Stop wasting time with the Search Engines

Your Content is King—stop wasting time with search engines

Search engine optimization used to be fairly simple. The algorithms the engines used were clearly based on strategically placed keywords, and the strategy in the early days was to “beat the engines”. How? By loading each page with hundreds of keywords, made invisible by making the words the same color as the page background.

The search engines have become a lot smarter since the old days, and figuring out their complex formulas has become a loser’s game. Yet the goals of both sides need not be mutually exclusive.

The search engine optimizers just want to rank their pages higher.
The search engines are only trying to reflect the most accurate and quality results for their customers. Algorithms are kept secret only because people will do anything to rank higher, regardless of the value of their content.

Search Engine Keywords Selection

Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential customers to your websites. But in order for visitors to reach their destination - your website - you need to provide them with specific and effective signs that will direct them right to your site. You do this by creating carefully chosen keywords.

Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the Internet. Find the exactly right words or phrases, and presto! hoards of traffic will be pulling up to your front door. But if your keywords are too general or too over-used, the possibility of visitors actually making it all the way to your site - or of seeing any real profits from the visitors that do arrive - decreases dramatically.

Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing strategy. If they are not chosen with great precision, no matter how aggressive your marketing campaign may be, the right people may never get the chance to find out about it. So your first step in plotting your strategy is to gather and evaluate keywords and phrases.
